MARION

Spitfire MkVb BL628 (RAF Serial) was built at Castle Bromwich near Birmingham UK. It commenced operations in RCAF squadron 401 at Gravesend in Feb 42, and was flown by GB Murray ("Scottie"). He named it Marion. Scottie flew a 100 flights during the period to August 42 totalling 99.5 hours on fighter sweeps over France and Holland. This painting depicts an enemy engagement over the coast of France in 1942 in which Scottie claimed a damaged FW190.

Marion is currently under restoration in New Zealand and will be flying in 2007.
